We all have our favourite winter comfort dishes from sausage and mash to shepherd’s pie, tomato soup to a warming stew, a hearty spaghetti bolognese to toad in the hole.  Whatever dish you turn to at this time of year, it is true to say that food can have a huge influence on our mood and can help us to feel warm and cosy on the even the coldest of nights.

Macaroni Cheese Recipe

A firm favourite with the J.S Bailey team at this time of year has to be macaroni cheese. It is the perfect comfort food to enjoy at home on a cold, wintery evening. The dish which is popular in the United States, Canada and Australia actually originated in England and is loved by adults and children alike.

If you like macaroni cheese, but would like to try a different twist on the this classic then we have some great suggestions.

We suggest taking this recipe, but substituting the traditional cheddar cheese for one of our flavoured cheeses. The possibilities are endless and as long as you select a cheese which melts well, the recipe will work and you can create your own take on the dish.

We recommend trying the recipe with one of the following:

  • Smoked cheddar
  • Burner
  • Mature cheddar & spring onion
  • Double Gloucester chives & onion
  • Cheddar herbs & garlic.

These cheeses are some of the most popular cheeses from our Calveley Mill cheese range and will all work beautifully in a macaroni cheese.  They are also all included in our limited edition Christmas cheese wheels which can be ordered here or are available in purchase in the Calveley Mill shop.
