Our History
Despite our growth we remain an independent, family run business. Our staff have a wealth of experience in the industry and we boast a handpicked team of cheese
experts. Over the years we’ve always stayed true to our original vision and believe this has been key to our success.
1984
Founded in 1984 by John Bailey, J.S. Bailey was
originally based in Nantwich, Cheshire. An area celebrated for producing some of the nation’s favourite cheeses and the home of the International Cheese Awards.
2000
By 2000 we had outgrown our original home in Nantwich and moved to new premises down the road in Calveley, Cheshire. The move to the 4-acre site allowed us to expand to meet the needs of our growing number of customers.
2015
With local demand growing to buy our cheese directly, we opened our on-site café and shop in 2015, stocking an extensive range of foods, drinks and lifestyle products. The café has become a popular eating and meeting place, serving quality, delicious food.
2016
We rebranded our flagship Calveley Mill range of
cheeses. A new logo was created and a completely new range of packaging. 2016 also saw J.S. Bailey recognised in the 1000 companies to inspire Britain list.
2019
Our new offices had their grand opening in 2019, and J.S. Bailey successfully secured a £400,000 grant from the Skills and Growth Company of the Cheshire East Council, providing vital funding towards a new 11,500sqft packing and storage facility to be built on the J.S. Bailey site.
