Brand Spotlight: Mrs Bridges

Each month we are shining the spotlight on just one of the countless premium brands that we stock in our on-site shop, Calveley Mill. These brands are well known both locally and nationally for their dedication to quality and significant popularity amongst our customers. This month we are taking a look at the household staple Mrs Bridges.

Mrs Bridges

Mrs Bridges dates back to Victorian England, when Kate Bridges made a career as an under cook to families throughout the countryside. During this time, she collected numerous recipes for many dishes from traditional country cooking through to French cuisine.

Her title of Mrs Bridges was given to her once she became the Cook for Lady and Richard Bellamy, one of the Edwardian eras leading families and London socialites. Here she cooked elaborate meals for a wide variety of people including King Edward, publishing her most popular recipes in her own book, ‘Practical Household Cookery’, published 1905.

Mrs Bridges became such a well-known figure that she featured heavily in the popular 1970s television programme, ‘Upstairs Downstairs’ and is now immortalised in the delicious, family run, Mrs Bridges range of food and gifts.

From preserves to marmalades, honey to chutneys and everything in between, the Mrs Bridges brand has become synonymous with British tradition in a high quality, delicious product. Just some of the tasty flavours available include:

  • Rhubarb and ginger preserve
  • Apple sauce with cider
  • Strawberry preserve with champagne
  • Lime marmalade with ginger
  • Sweet chilli onion relish
  • And so many more!

We are one of the privileged stockists of the amazing Mrs Bridges product range, which is enjoyed by many of our Calveley Mill customers. So whether it is relish, jam, curds or chutneys you are looking for to make the perfect addition to one of your recipes, be sure to pop into the Calveley Mill shop, open Monday to Friday (8am to 5pm), Saturday (8.30am to 4pm) and Sunday (10am to 4pm).
