Could the future of cheesemaking be in solar power?

Food manufacturers and businesses across the food industries are constantly looking for ways to operate more economically and to improve their energy efficiency. For traditional cheesemakers the dilemma is often how to embrace new technology which could improve sustainability whilst still producing cheese by traditional methods. One cheese producer in Spain thinks they may have found the answer.

cheesemaking with solar power

The sheep farmer who is based in Castellon, near Valencia began producing organic artisan cheese in 2013 and recently crowdfunded in order to purchase and instal the equipment necessary to convert to solar power. Based in an area which is blessed with sunshine this seems to be a perfect solution.

The artisan cheesemaker produces a range of traditional sheep’s milk cheeses and successfully raised €7200 for his dream project.
